THE BAND
DARRYL PORRAS - Vocals, Guitar
DREW HALL - Vocals, Guitar, Dobro
CARLOS B. JONES - Drums
WHIT MERCER - Bass
ANTON TESCHNER - Tenor Sax, Percussion

A good 'indie' release from Arizona is That's D Blues, from Big Daddy D and the Dynamites. The eight cuts here have a real 'live in the studio' feel... All songs are original compositions... Good vocals... Nice sax work... Tasty dobro work.

Story of The Blues

They just said, "Roll the tape." No rehearsal or nothing. Muddy Waters didn't come in and say, "I wanna rehearse." He used to look at me and say, "Let's just play the blues. That's all you need to do."  Buddy Guy

LINER NOTES:

All these original recordings were done in the studio as “live” as can be. We wanted to hold true to what the “Blues” are all about. No musical overdubs and no fancy studio tricks were added. Just raw, high energy music is what we do. We created music that encourages maximum energy and spontaneous musical moments. What you hear in these recording are the different illustrations and dynamics of music experienced during a live encounter with Big Daddy D and the Dynamites.

Big Daddy - “Let me give thanks to all those who really believe in what we are doing as a band, and for supporting the blues... Especially my loving, and patient wife, a fantastic band-The Dynamites, to Lil Junior for all his words of wisdom, and of course all the fine clubs and fans on “The World Famous Whiskey Row” in Prescott.”

Drew - "I want to thank my loving wife Rachel … Lucy Hall-Berry and Jim Berry Linda & John Ansick... And the memory of Thomas Owen Hall (Thanks for that first guitar and being a wonderful father) and Clara Hall. Of course thanks goes to Whit, Darryl, Tony and Carlos.”

Carlos - "I want to thank my beloved wife Lily my kids …friends … family …The Band …Kala Jun … Elvin Jones and of course God and her dog Choo-Choo.”

Whit - "I wanted to say thanks to Mom and Dad & my children, especially Rachel & my son-in-law Drew Hall (Play on)... and The Band for putting up with this old fart. Also my Kitties, Coco & Gizmo who keep me entertained and finally Robert (Sponge Bob)Hertzog for being a good friend.”

Anton - "I wanted to say thanks to my wife ... Ray-Ban sunglasses ... Freddie … The other Dynamites … & all the other cool bands that just let me sit in and play ... and I am NOT the guy formally with Los Lobos."

In memory of: Rex Hiner … Harp player & Blues man. Thanks for sitting in. We’ll miss ya.
Clare Willey … A great inspiration to all of your friends and the world.
