The Bird Cage on the famous "Whiskey Row" in Prescott AZ.

We play a lot in the Prescott area. Especially on The World Famous Whiskey Row. A full block of historic bars and saloons where some of America's famous cowboys and outlaws drank. One of the easiest places to find us is at The Bird Cage right on Whiskey Row. There is live music on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Just check our schedule to see when we're there next. The Bird Cage has lots of great examples of stuffed birds in display cases and a few stuffed Elk heads... and is a favorite destination for Motor Cycle enthusiast and "Bikers" alike from all over the US. Needless to say it can get rowdy there on occasion. But the "Be Nice Or Leave" rule is always in effect. You WILL be nice... or you will be asked (or made) to leave.

It not uncommon, however, for women to be granted a little leeway when feeling the urge to express themselves in an healthy 'adult' manner. We like to encourage this as much as possible. Out on the dance floor the comfort level, at times develops into an almost 'anything goes' attitude. Along with a sense of friendly competition... and I mean FRIENDLY... once one woman shows what she's got, there are always more that don't want to be outdone.  Some are better than others but ALL are appreciated.

For those of you who have been to the Bird Cage  you can imagine the 'birds eye' view the Band gets from the 4 foot high stage. This Bird Cage dance floor is also the best place to get a "tambourine solo". There's nothing like handing a tambourine to an enthusiastic girl and watching her shake... the tambourine. Ya' gotta love it.

Joe Houston at The Bird Cage

The time we spend with Joe on stage at the Bird Cage are truly lessons in high energy showmanship, music ability and THE Blues.  The Mighty JOE HOUSTON, truly one of the Kings of the Tenor Saxophone comes from a long line of Texan Royalty. Ornate Coleman, Dexter Gordon, Booker Ervin, Arnette Cobb amongst others. Joe Houston is one of the pioneers of "Jump Blues" along with Big Joe Turner. Whenever you hear music that resembles something like the Bill Haley and the Comets "sound"... remember Bill Haley got from these guys.

When the jump blues tradition faded, he segued right into rock & roll, even cutting budget "twist" and "surf" albums for Crown that didn't sound very different from what he was doing a decade before. Joe is on tons of albums his most recent release in 2002 is  Joe Houston - The Legendary Sax Man, Vol. 1

Sundance's

Sundance's in Prescott also has a "Blues Jam" every Thursday and Sunday. The hottest players around AZ. show up there eventually. The new owner Scott has his own Blues/Rock band called Mr.O. Some of you may remember this place as the old "Boiler Room" bar. Scott has fixed it up really nice. It has a great stage and an excellent PA system.

The Cadillac Bar & Grill

Another place we play just 1/2 a block away from Whiskey Row in Prescott. It's also located right next to a really good restaurant. This is a nice intimate place to play. This is a place where the crowd always gets going. The bartenders are awesome...especially Katie. Katie will occasionally sit in for a song (when she's not pouring drinks) and play the tambourine. She is one of the original fun loving girls we affectionately call " The Tambourine Girl". At least the one with some rhythm.

The Jersey Lily

We also play at the Jersey Lily right above "The Palace" in Prescott. It's an upscale little bar. You can order food from the Palace and eat it there. The drinks are always poured with a generous hand. This place is great for a band to play. You practically get your own dressing room behind the stage. It a great little quiet area to get ready for the show.

Boler's

Every other band we have ever spoken too that has played at Boler's says the same thing,  "It's the weirdest place to play."  It's too hard to explain you really have to check it out for your self. There seems to be a good supply of people that visit Boler's. They come and go all night long. I guess there are a lot of 'errands' that can only be done that late at night.
